Celebrating 10 Years of SVI at the FIE Paris!

What better way to mark 10 years of the Sustainable Vanilla Initiative (SVI) than by sharing our journey at Food Ingredients Europe’s New Community Hub?

Our session brought together a vibrant community of stakeholders to celebrate a decade of progress and to introduce the new 2030 Sustainable Vanilla Charter.

We were honoured to welcome an exceptional panel of speakers representing perspectives from international buyers, exporters, and origin countries from Madagascar to Uganda, and across supply chains from vanilla to cocoa. A warm thank-you to Laurent Deniau (Symrise), Mia Rajaona (MCIngredients), Julien Aillerie (Esco Uganda / Esco Kivu), Muriel Acat-Vergnet (PROVA), and Nicko Debenham for bringing their expertise and energy to the stage.

Key takeaways from the session included:

👉Collaboration is essential. Lessons from sectors such as cocoa show that collective action is the only way to move the sustainability needle at scale.
👉Clear industry-wide goals matter. The new 2030 Sustainable Vanilla Charter provides shared direction and ambition to future-proof vanilla and drive meaningful impact.
👉Procurement and sustainability must go hand in hand. The increasing involvement of procurement leaders in sustainability work is a strong signal of where the industry is headed.

Also excited to have our event take place the same week and same city where SVI was officially launched back on 4 December 2015—a true full-circle celebration of how far we’ve come.

Here’s to continued collaboration, renewed commitment, and good energy as we enter SVI’s next chapter.
